FOOD-CENTRIC URBAN RENEWAL
Urban Eats was created at the start of the Great Recession to revitalize urban neighborhoods using healthy food, local art, and community gathering places. Throughout St. Louis, the shells of once vibrant neighborhoods serve as a reminder that prosperity and poverty are living, breathing, fragile states of an urban environment. Successful urban renewal often blossoms around a stable community gathering space that can be a shining beacon of hope, and a safe, comfortable place of retreat. Urban Eats is this catalyst.
The concept was built on the idea that food brings people together. Having a cafe allowed Urban Eats to provide unique, ethnically-inspired, real food to a community that often lacks quality, healthy, affordable options.
Upstart Food Brands wanted to help. We knew owners, John Chen and Caya Aufiero, and the most meaningful way we could think to contribute to their mission was to help them launch a new website that better communicated their vision.
We developed the new urbaneatscafe.com with new photography and fresh content.
